Recent Events

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hello,
It has been a busy few weeks since I last posted. Here is a bit of a recap:

Evan- Evan had a good couple weeks beginning with his winning the fourth and fifth grade Geography Bee for his elementary school. He had looked forward to this event since second grade and was obviously well prepared. Unfortunately the bee was not open to parents so we did not get to see for ourselves. I do know that his winning answer to the last question was Manitoba. He was quite happy for himself and proud to have beaten all the older fifth graders. His final score was high enough that his school has entered him in the state geography bee. This will be held in April and I hope to be there. Next week is the school spelling bee, Evan will be representing his class for the second year in a row.

Evan also finished his read to feed fund drive raising over $500 for the charity! Thanks to everyone for you contributions.

Evan is on two basketball teams this season. One is a forth grade team that will play teams around the city and the other is a 4th/5th grade team (the Rockets) that is a recreational league in Homewood. The Rockets played today and Evan had a great game. The Rockets won 20-9 over the Pistons. Evan scored eight and had over a dozen rebounds. He was also really strong on defense with several blocks.



Ian-
Not to be out done by his brother's success in the geography bee, Ian won the third grade bee! This was the first year they have had a third grade geo bee, and Ian did a great job and won. It should be interesting next year when they go head to head.

Ian is playing basketball in the 2nd/3rd grade Homewood recreational league. His team is the Pistons. Ian also played today but his team unfortunately lost 19-9. On the bright side Ian had a good game, especially the second half. He scored seven points and had lots of rebounds and good defense.


Michelle-
Michelle has been super busy with her classes and keeping everyone where they are supposed to be at the right time. She convinced me to put up the Christmas tree early and since has made our home look really nice for the holiday. Here are a couple shots of the tree and ornaments.



Me-
Today a waged war on the front yard leaves. I worked with my leaf blower, rake and tarp for over four hours getting all the leaves rounded up and down to the street. We are supposed to bag the leaves but I am staging a bit of a protest and am just piling them along the road for now. I am hoping to find some guy with one of those leaf sucking trucks that wants to make a buck. Here is the evidence of my labor.
