The boys finished up their spring soccer seasons this week with some tournament play.
Ian's club had a great season finishing 8-1. Ian got to play a variety of positions, usually starting at keeper until half time. Usually by then his team would have a substantial lead. He would then play back and move up later to forward. As a forward he had several goals including the last goal of the season in the 4-0 win in the tournament. We are happy that he has found a good team and has had some consistency for a couple of seasons now.
Evan's club played up, they are all 10 or younger but played teams that were made up of boys 11 and under. This did not slow them down and they finished undefeated with one tie. Playing up also meant they played 8 on the field and offsides is counted as a penalty. Evan typically played center mid as he is very good at distributing the ball and staunch on defense. It is really fun to watch his team as they are getting very good, ie lots of crosses and one touch goals.
Both boys have been invited to play on 3 vs 3 teams that will practice and play a regional tournament toward the end of the month. I'll let you know how that goes.
