Well Unfortunately I neglected to bring my memory card reader with us so photos will have to wait until we get home...sorry. I suppose that will force me to write more.
So the boys have been training hard for these games. Evan's team has been scrimmaging the U11 boys team that recently won a state tournament for that age. The Rangers have been holding their own against them and were feeling good coming in to this tournament. Ian's team was created from the best players for his age. There are some really talented kids included but I was afraid they may not play well since they have never played as a club. However, in practice they surprised me when they beat a U10 team that was created from the best U10 players (not on Evan's team).
So we traveled up to Decatur after school today with the promise of bad weather and a cold weekend. The weather looked fine until about one minute before the game when the bottom dropped out. It rained hard and cold the whole game and made it tough for photography, so your not really missing much tonight. Michelle and I flipped a coin to see who watched who (all of the boys four games are at the same time! go figure)
I got to watch Evan's game. It was a very good game, they played a club called Arsenal from Madison, Al. They turned out to be very good, they closed to the ball very quickly and did not give our forwards from getting good crosses or shots. We did have several close ones. One in which Evan got a pass in the box and very nearly popped the ball over the keepers head. Arsenal had a bit more luck. Their first score was a hard shot that our keeper handled well, popping it straight up. The wind pushed it backwards into the top of the net. Their other score probably would have been easily handled by our keeper on a dryer day. It wasn't what Evan or his teammates wanted but they still hope to win some of their other games.
Ian's team fared better winning 3-1. Ian played keeper the first half and back second half. He had a good time and I am glad he got his first tournament win. Tomorrows game is at noon and then two Sunday.

Thanks for the report. Sorry to hear about the weather. I've been checking in using the links you posted for both boy's teams' progress. It is too bad that Evan's team has not had a chance to shine. I am happy for them that they made the tournament and pleased for Ian to have won his first two tournament games - especially on a team that has not played together before. Will check back tomorrow and hope the weather has improved.
Wow, that was some serious rain you got. Please let the boys know we are very proud of them - they had a great soccer season.
We look forward to basketball reports and pictures next :)
