Recent Events

Today Evan's team, the Rangers, had an exhibition game against a team from Auburn. This is the same team that they faced in the Governor's Cup tournament last fall. That game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Auburn team is a traveling club that play in the south/east and supposedly had never lost or tied to a team of their own age. Today's game was set up just as a good competitive contest.
Ian got a chance to be a Ranger because one team mate could not make the game and the coach asked Ian to fill in. Both boys played great the first half and the game was 0-0 when Ian and I had to leave to take him across town to his teams game. So... I missed all the action in the second half. Evan played center and was in the game the entire second half. The Auburn team scored due to a bad error by our keeper but the Rangers came back quickly with a goal by their speedy forward Brady. Auburn scored again and so again did the Rangers. The Rangers scored the winning goal with three minutes left and then held off the other team for the win. I was sorry to miss it as I am sure that there was lots of happy kids. Michelle said Evan played really well with assists and great defense.
Ian's team did not fair as well getting beat fairly well by a good team. His team is still getting used to playing as a team and has several players that tend to walk a lot. Unfortunately this make Ian's duties as keeper that much harder. He had lots of great saves but there were so many shots on goal that many got into the net. We picked him up some goalie gloves and he likes playing the position. I think that he would be better playing in the field as he one of the best players on the team... hopefully if we ever get a full time coach I can talk to him about getting him some time on the field as well.
