Recent Events

Soccer season started up today with the boys first two games. While they are in the same league, they were not allowed to be on the same team...and please don't get me started about this subject as it is not a pleasant topic around here.

Evan's team, the Rangers, is mostly intact from last season, losing only two players and getting one new one. Ian's team is called the Wild. The Rangers picked up where they left off winning their first game handily 5 to 1. Evan played center in a mostly defensive role but was able to contribute a lot with several great passes that resulted in goals.

Ian's team has had a bit of a rough start... their coach, who is also the head coach of UAB's soccer team had to have emergency heart surgery after only a few practices and will not be back this season. UAB team players and parents have been filling in and hopefully he will get a new permanent coach soon. Today's game was a bit tough, only six kids showed up so they had to play the whole game. Ian scored the first goal of the game but the team then gave up five in a row. Ian played goalie the second half and the Wild made a bit of a comeback but ended up losing 7 to 5. Hopefully with a full team and some more practice they will improve next week.

We have been working hard around the house and in the yard, taking advantage of the pleasant temps and lack of mosquitoes. We are also getting excited about our upcoming summer excursion.
