Recent Events

We had a big soccer weekend, starting Saturday when both boys played in local matchups. Evan's Rangers were in good form and took it out on another team winning 12-0. Ian's team played a really solid game and won 6-1. Ian played, keeper, back and midfielder. When midfielder he really took charge and had several shots on goal and one nice score.

Sunday we traveled to Auburn so the Rangers could play a team that they have face twice before. The Auburn Thunder is a traveling team, meaning they already travel around the region and play a lot of good clubs. We played them to a tie in the Govenor's cup and then beat them when they came to Homewood last spring. The club always has a slightly different roster and this time they obviously had some ringers in the ranks. The Rangers were totally out classed and took a 10-0 drubbing. It was tough, the Auburn squad was really good, scoring many with many crosses to open players who would head it in or get a really nice one touch goal. Evan did play very well and was somewhat of a highlight for Homewood. The best chance they had for a goal was when he managed to dribble all the way down and into the box. He made a great short pass but his player missed a nearly point blank shot. While it was a tough loss the boys took it fairly well. They had another game to get up for immediately afterwords with the Auburn B team. This was a bettter game that ended in a 1-1 tie. It really should have been a Homewood win as they dominated the game with 14 shots on goal. Hopefully the boys learned a lot and will improve. They may face the same Auburn club in the Governor's Cup in a few weeks.
