Michelle and I took leave of our parental duties this past weekend. We joined some old friends in Atlanta to see one of my favorite musicians, Richard Thompson at the Variety Playhouse Theater. If you are unfamiliar, RT is a singer songwriter that came out of the British folk music scene in the late 60's. He was a founding member of Fairport Convention and later recorded several acclaimed albums with his exwife Linda. He has been producing solo music for the past decade and is always great in concert. This was my sixth RT show and it featured many new songs as well as several classics. Highlights for me were an old Fairport song called Crazy Man Michael, and a stirring Al Bowlee's in Heaven. Richard was joined on stage by bass player Danny Thompson. Keep up with Richard on his website the beesweb: richardthompson-music.com
Here are some photos I took at the show.
